so, then it was off to kyoto.
which took about 30 minutes on the train.
killed some time by walking around kyoto before checking into my hostel, and was lucky enough to chance upon these girls. An up and coming band apparently.
One of many many temples in kyoto.
One of the cutest wish boards I've seen.
and I was SOOO Lucky.
to catch a rare glimpse of a maiko.
these japanese butterflies.
I really wanted to get my fortune told at this shrine. But didn't think my japanese was good enough yet, maybe in summer...
I could have spent all day walking through these gates. Peaceful, tranquil.
managed to stumble upon a bamboo forest. Something I've wanted to see for a long long time.
A single sakura blossom in the wind. A rare and lucky photo.
kyoto is by far too tranquil.
when you experience sakura first hand. You realise why such the big deal.
the next few photos are from an ancient Zen garden laid hundreds of years ago.
the longer you sit and stare into the stone patterns you are supposed to go deeper into your soul.
And discover things about yourself you never knew.
But with all these tourists about I was never gonna get a chance.
Temple made completely of gold.
breathtaking temple.
Pausing for a portrait.
All the japanese take photos of themselves with the sakura plant.
Lucky lucky sakura.
